The Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission announces an opening for residents of District 3 to apply to join the Commission. Chairman Michael Hulett is retiring from the Commission, vacating a seat representing District 3 in the west central part of the state. Applications and more information can be found here. Online applications are due September 4th.
Commissioners are appointed by the Governor and include two members from each of the six Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Districts and one member-at-large. Monthly meetings are held the fourth Wednesday, typically in Sartell with some other Greater Minnesota locations visited during summer months.
The Commission is responsible for undertaking system planning and providing recommendations to the Legislature for grants funded by the Parks and Trails Legacy fund to cities and counties outside the seven county metropolitan area for designated parks and trails of regional significance.
